Taiwan has just reported its first locally transmitted dengue fever cases this year during the week of August 19–25 in Kaohsiung.
Dengue fever, commonly known as “break-bone fever” is a mosquito‑borne viral illness spread by Aedes albopictus and Aedes aegypti. Its symptoms include sudden high fever, headache, pain behind the eyes, muscle and joint aches, and skin rash.
Given the recent rainy weather, it is especially important to stay vigilant and take preventive measures.
